Shipping

  • Who wraps the art up prior to posting?

I take pride in protecting the art so each piece is wrapped well so it is protected, also with lots of fragile tape all over the parcel and writing either saying please do not bend, or please do not put heavy items on top, just as a precaution. I make sure the parcel is clearly labelled and has my return address just incase  something does happen, or if it does get returned to me.

Usually the tracking details get sent directly to the buyer when it is collected from me as it is scanned on collection. The email from DHL even include options you can select, for example if you do need to change the delivery day, but this is out of my control and between you and the courier. If you do not get a tracking number, please do get in touch so I can email you the tracking number or reference depending on what service you require.

DHL express is a fully trackable service, it is more expensive but well worth it. If you require another courier, you are more than welcome to but unfortunately it is out of my hands as soon as it leaves my studio.

I will always do my upmost to protect the artwork so it arrives safe and sound.

  • Where are I based?

I am a sole trador/freelance artist and I work from my studio, based in Southend-on-Sea, UK.

  • Who is liable if a parcel goes missing?

Sadly as soon as the product leave my studio with the courier it is out of my hands but I always do my upmost to protect my art, amking sure it is well wrapped, labelled well and goes with replicable companies.

This is why I recommend DHL express.

Not even the couriers take any respeonsability of parcels that are posted with them.

I always get great feedback regarding the way I wrap my art when it will be posted. One of my clients said it was bomb proof!...sorry I am not liable or any loses or damages through the postal services. If anything happens I will do all I can to help find it.

If posted with DHL express your parcel is fully trackable. Unfortunetly not all couriers are fully trackable, some loose the ytrackable part once it leaves the UK.

If you do choose another service, which is totally fine, but once it leaves my studio, it is out of my hands and you will have to work with the courier you chose to sort out any queries you may have.

  • Delivery time?

The DHL express service I use is a next day service, but can take up to 2 days.

They do not deliver over the weekend, so if you make an order on a Friday, you wont receive the parcel until Monday onwards.

The UK for a print or an original to be delivered is usually 1-2 days. Depending on when I receive the order. For an example, if I receive an order Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the parcel wont go out until Monday if in stock, except bank holidays. If I receive the order after midday on the Mon, Tues, Wed or Thursday, please allow another day before will be posted out.

I will liase with all clients to find what days are best for you to receive the parcel or if it is a surprise delivery, I wont include my business name, so please make me aware.

Deliveries outside the UK (International) can vary depending on what country/area and time of the year your parcel is going out for delivery. Christmas periods are usually very busy or if there is anything going on in the area can also affect the delivery time, but DHL express is a great service.

I post out orders once the payment has cleared.

  • Delivery prices?

These can vary depending on what part of the UK, and where abouts in the world it maybe going. I do give non obligation quotes, so if please do ask if you would like a quote, or email me with the full address, contact number an email address.

Also if going to Isle of Man or Guernsey, prices will be more, again, if in doubt, do get in touch and I will get a quote for you.

I use DHL express as a next day delivery, and a great service, but at times there can be extra fees down to the area you are in, or to where the parcel has to go, if you would like to use a different courier, you are more than welcome but will have to be at your own risk still.

    UK prices are as follows;

    A5 prints £10-

    A4 prints £12-

    A3 prints £15-

    A2 prints £20-

Originals and framed prints are from £30- depending on size and due to the amount of packaging to protect your original in the post.

    Outside the UK; INTERNATIONAL

Unframed prints are from £30- depending on size and where the destination is. Framed artwork from £40- depending on size and due to the amount of packaging to protect the artwork and again, due to the destination.

  • Is the postage cheaper if order more than one print?

Yes with the unframed items only. If you phone me up with the order I will either being able to take your order and payment over the phone or if prefered you can email me the order with the post cost query then I can email you an invoice.

Once the payment is clear I then send your order to you.

  • Do I get a tracking number?

Yes, both international and UK you will receive a tracking number as I use DHL express, each parcel sent is fully trackable with them.

Other couriers are not fully trackable.

With international, outside the UK, I can still give you a tracking number but this is only up to before it leaves the UK unfortunately. I have asked many a time, even though ask for track and trace sadly it only trackable until it leaves the UK.

I do keep intouch with the client until they have received their order and even if it was to get lost I would do my upmost to try and locate your parcel for you.

The postal services unfortunately are all at our own risk at all times.

Copyright and Prints...

  • Is each piece of art copyrighted?

Yes, each piece of art drawn by an artist is coptrighted and the all the rights stays with that artist unless someone buys the rights, which would be between the artist and the one interested in purchasing the rights. This agreement should be in righting so if questioned there is proof of purchasing these rights, without that, one will be in breach of copyright law.

  • Can the buyer of a piece of art do anything with it other than enjoy the piece of art?

A definite no. This would breach the copyright law. Each piece of art, whether it be an original; commissioned or purchased from artist direct or at a show, at a gallery or a print/reproduction from the original or of their work produced on any other product with their art on must not be reproduced in any way without their consent or permission.

  • Can I get prints produced from my commission?

Only if you go direct to the artist in which drew your piece. So Yes if come to me, I would love to do that for you as they make wonderful gifts and I have done many now for clients. Each image must NOT be re-distrubuted, copied, photographed, scanned, imatated or misappropriated without written consent from the artist, otherwise one would be breaching the copyright law.

  • What is a Giclée print?

A giclee print, pronounced jee-clay and derives from the french word 'to squirt out'. It is a process that uses a 12 color ink jet printer, acid free papers, and pigment based archival inks. This insures that your prints will never degrade or yellow over time and allows a better longevity. Giclee printing allows the artist to provide a quality product for their customers that will never fade. I take poride in colour correcting each print ensuring each one is of high standard. Each print I hand sign and check over before putting them together with the mounts and celophane myself. The origins of the Giclée prints; the word giclée was adopted by Jack Duganne around 1990. He was a printmaker working at Nash Editions. He wanted a name for the new type of prints they were producing on a modified Iris printer, a large-format, high-resolution industrial prepress proofing inkjet printer on which the paper receiving the ink is attached to a rotating drum and that they had adapted for fine-art printing. He was specifically looking for a word that would differentiate them from regular commercial Iris prints then used as proofs in the commercial printing industry. "Giclée" is based on the French word gicleur, the French technical term for a jet or a nozzle, and the verb coming from it "gicler" (to squirt out). "Une giclée" (noun) means a spurt of some liquid. The French verb form gicler means to spray, spout, or squirt. Duganne settled on the noun giclée.

  • Are Giclée prints worth it?

Yes as they appreciate in value due to it's high quality and relative rarity, a limited edition giclee is valuable from it's initial printing. But these giclee prints also become more valuable over time as the artist gains more and more recognition and the edition of the print sells out.

  • Why are giclées so much more expensive than lithographs?

The technology used to create these prints is very expensive and the output is painfully slow - most giclées are produced one or two at a time. Also the materials are of higher quality as the papers and inks are of archival quality that adds to the value of the prints as are colourfast too.

  • Who produces the prints, put them together and post out?

I am a sole trador, a freelance wildlife artist who produces my own prints. I put them all together and take care in wrapping the product whether it be a print or an original with the utmost care so it arrives safely to its new home.

  • Certificates of authenticy?

All of my limited edition prints come with a certificate of authenticity and each one logged so when the last one of its numbered edition is printed strickly no more will be printed! It is against the law to print more than the number of the edition. I supply a certificate of authenticity for the majority of my commissions, from 2020 I supply one with every commission. You may request one prior to me completing any work. If some time/years have passed then I cannot supply one as each one is dated at time of delivering to client. If you would like to know the date in which your picture was drawn, I will do my upmost to look through my records and let you know. All my work is genuine as each one is hand drawn by myself. I am a sole trader and all the services I provide I entail myself. Unless printed on other products.

  • If a print is produced from an original does this add value to the original?

Yes. If an original has prints produced from the original, the original will be more valuable.

  • Do originals and prints hold their value if sold at a sale price due to end of edition prints or originals?

If an original or prints are at a sale price, this doesnt devalue the work at all. The lower prices are either last of print editions to make way for the new and few originals when wanting to bring in new. All originals and prints hold value and go up in value. Sometimes higher than one thinks as depends on what someone is willing to pay for it. They can get affected by the price of living.

  • If I purchase an original or commission a pet portrait does that mean I own the rights to it?

No. The artist always owns the copyrights to each and every original they draw, each drawing. The copyright remains with the artist.

Unless the artist sells the rights to that original.

Some artists choose to seel the rights.

The artwork would be a lot more expensive if they were selling the artwork with the rights.

  • Can I re-produce from the pet portrait or commissioned artwork?

No. Again if this was to happen, you will be breaching the copyright law.

If you would like prints from your pet portrait or commissioned picture, I can do this for you at an additional cost. Works out cheaper if done at the time of the commission. I have done this for several clients now as makes a lovely gift for friends and family.
